Want to write more? Then get writing. It's almost that simple. Sing, strain or even suffer through that first draft. Here's how (with thanks to Copyblogger).

I want you to ask me anything about building a website for your art. It can be related to working with Squarespace, the tool we are exploring throughout this series. It doesn't have to be. Really, anything that has to do with an artist website.

Driving this afternoon I hit a moment of clarity head on. It dawns on me. Mastering the Art of living is hard, but simple. In fact, like all good formulas, it's a 3 step process on infinite repeat.
Live well. Pay attention. Share the good.

The homepage on your website will give visitors your Most Important Thing. That will be the first thing they see. Exactly what you hope will be the first thing they see. We’ll make it so, by design.
So with that Most Important Thing firmly in mind, let’s get our hands dirty, back in our website building tool of choice, Squarespace.

oday we are going to start building the frame of your new art website. We are going to create your basic pages. By the time you are done this post, you will have made the 5, 6 or 7 most important pages on your website. Or at least, you’ll have framed out those pages. You’ll also have your site’s menu built. Really!

For a month now we’ve been talking about building a better website for your art. If you’ve been following along, you now know why you want that website. You know exactly what it is for and how it will be used. You know the Most Important Thing people will do when they get there. And you know most of the other things(5 to 7 other things) they’ll do, too.
Well congratulations, hero. You’ve made it to the moment you’ve been waiting for. The moment when we actually start building your brand-spankin’-new art website. The moment you start to see results take shape. You are ready to go online.

You may want people to sign up for a weekly newsletter where you email out sketches. Art sales may be your goal, and so your homepage will feature the latest painting for sale with a big ‘buy now’ button.
But that’s just the home page. Your website doesn’t have to have more than one page, but it likely will. There will likely be more than one thing you’ll want to offer. Contact information. Your CV. A gallery. All things that may be important to your visitors, but not so important that they fill up that sacred front page.
Today we’ll map out the rest of your site.
