Bleeding Heart Art Space | 2027
Bleeding Heart Art Space (BHAS) invites exhibition proposals from individual artists, collectives, and curators. We welcome contemporary art across disciplines, including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, sound, moving image, and interdisciplinary practices.
Exhibition periods
We are programming four exhibitions in 2027:
March 15 – May 8
May 23 – July 16
July 31 – September 23
October 8 – November 30
Each exhibition runs for approximately eight weeks, which includes one week for installation, a six-week exhibition, and one week for dismantling. Please indicate your preferred period and scheduling flexibility.
Fees and support
BHAS provides a total exhibition fee of $800 CAD, inclusive of GST, shared among participants for collective or curated exhibitions, and up to $50 for labels or vinyl, with receipts. BHAS retains a 30% commission on artwork sales.
BHAS cannot pay additional programming fees. Any agreed workshops, talks, or performances are included in the exhibition fee. While we invite submissions from beyond the Edmonton area, we cannot support any costs of travel and the transportation of works.
We are happy to provide letters of support for additional funding applications. Please request a letter at least one month before the funding deadline, providing application details and letter requirements.

Equal opportunity in the arts

Land Acknowledgement
Bleeding Heart Art Space is located in Treaty 6 territory and the Métis homeland. The gallery is situated on the northern bank of the North Saskatchewan River—a travelling route, trading center, ceremonial gathering place, and meeting ground for Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island. As treaty people, we are committed to the principles of reconciliation as outlined in the TRC, and respect and honour the past and current contributions of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples who continue to steward this land and our communities.
Application deadline: December 15th, 2026 11:59 pm

You can download a PDF of our gallery layout here. The main gallery is a cozy space, at just over 540 square feet, and ideal for small, tightly focused shows or installations.
Beside the main gallery is a 148-square-foot Installation Room, a former office space that is great for video works, interactive projects, and even smaller exhibits.
We believe in paying artist fees and do so to the best of our ability and financial resources. While aiming at respecting the CARFAC-RAAV Fees Schedules, we are not presently in a financial position allowing us to pay artists at these suggested levels. For more information about our current fees, please contact us.
