Kaleido is Coming - Help Us Welcome Visitors!

Kaleido is Coming - Help Us Welcome Visitors!

Our gallery is located within the 'Kaleido zone', on a repurposed street with access to thousands of walkers. I cannot wait to throw open our doors and introduce Kaleido visitors to the work of Brandon Atkinson, our first artist of this season.

Brandon's work offers Indigenous stories a visual telling that fuses a tattoo aesthetic with traditional Indigenous elements. His bold lines and monochromatic palate create images that draw us in for a closer look. Our attention is rewarded with numerous details, symbols and storylines.

Can you help us share this work with Kaleido guests?

Can I Share My Website Awakening With You?

Can I Share My Website Awakening With You?

I don't worry about my websites anymore. It's freeing. I'd like to share that freedom with you.

I want you to realise you can have a website without pulling out your hair.

I want you to know you can get someone else to worry about the nerdy bits, the code-writing, the security threats. The why-is-your-website-down questions from fans and friends.

I want you to have a simple, professional website that you can manage yourself so that you don't have to pay someone like me every time you want to add a blog post or a photo of a new piece.

All of this is possible. Since I cracked open a book and got to work writing website code, the world has changed. There are a lot of great options that allow you to (A) have a great looking website and (B) not go bankrupt or crazy keeping it up to date.

Welcome to the Bridge Songs Open Mic

Welcome to the Bridge Songs Open Mic

Bridge Songs began with a small group of singer-songwriters wanting to get their songs out to the community, so an open stage feels like the right way to end.

Musicians, writers, storytellers and entertainers of all skill and kind are invited. We want to give YOU the last word at Bridge Songs TEN.

It's Hard to Paint Walls White

It's Hard to Paint Walls White

Last month our gallery walls were every colour in the rainbow, thanks to Borys Tarasenko's bold black brush strokes and your felt pen skills. It was an awesome month. Now we have another show ahead, and there is so much work to show that we absolutely need some nice, quiet walls to start.

I'm hoping you can help.

Art: Vocabulary for the Soul Retreat (with Julie and Sam Drew)

Art: Vocabulary for the Soul Retreat (with Julie and Sam Drew)

This June, from 24th to the 26th, a small group of creative souls will gather in the mountains at a hidden oasis called King's Fold. There will be riverside strolls. There will be fireside chats. There will be Southern Alberta beauty in every direction, and perhaps a few wildlife sightings. There will be, I'm told, very good food.

Most importantly, there will be opportunity to explore and expand your creative soul. Vocabulary for the Soul retreats have been running for some time now and I'm honoured to join veteran leaders Julie Drew and Sam Drew for this weekend retreat to focus on the 'thin places' where faith and art interact. Perhaps dance is a better word. Or blend. Or weave. Or harmonize.

All The Dreams I’ve Yet to Dream

All The Dreams I’ve Yet to Dream

What is the best thing you’ve ever made?

I put this question, or some version of it, to friends sitting in my cold basement. We are sipping wine and turning philosophical.

Our answers turn us backward, pulling out relics for show and tell. We are older now. I wonder if we’ll always see our best moments in the rear view mirror, glazed over with the false fondness of memory?

Are your greatest achievements in the past or in the future?
