These are dry times. Summer slips away faster than you can catch it – a dime down the drain. The sky hangs damp and icy today. Across the globe, powerful little men toy with the world’s future like it’s a game of chicken. Hurricanes have ravaged large parts of our earth. Families will suffer the effects for years to come. Terrorists won’t let London sleep.
This planet can get so ugly. So broken. So disordered. So many of our mirrors are shattered.
There is order in beauty. A divine order, I believe, but whatever your theology you can feel it. The affirmation of disparate parts falling into place.
Jennifer Berkenbosch’s Cultivar matters because the world needs beauty today. We need to be reminded that there is goodness. There is a solid bed beneath this wild river.
Our new show, TEXT+IMAGE opens this weekend and we are in need of volunteers throughout the show's run. Most shifts are on a Saturday, and last just 2 hours.

Management of volunteers has been, well, piecemeal up until now. I’ve done what I can to connect with many of you, but there have been more last-minute ‘bail-us-out’ emails than I’d like because I haven’t been able to focus on filling shifts as much as is needed. Every once and a while, I’ve dropped a ball. Or two. Forgot to fill shifts. Double filled shifts. You, our volunteers, have been resilient. Reliable. Remarkable. You deserve better.

The Nina Haggerty Centre for the arts does great work in our community, providing opportunities for people with disabilities to make art. I've volunteered with them myself, and it was an enriching experience meeting some great people. I even learned a bit about working with clay!
The Nina needs volunteers this fall.
There are many ways to contribute to the centre and anything you might do will be appreciated. Here are the main, current possibilities—but if you have another way of being part of the centre, they are open to new ideas!
