Gathering for Unity in a Climate of Political Division
You feel disillusioned by a new culture of relativity in social media. You’ve been hurt by sexist remarks reported in the media. Racial prejudice and violence has discouraged and angered you. You feel your heritage of birth has caused you to look differently at yourself in relation to others. Perhaps you feel divided within your community; or you feel divided within yourself. In a volatile political climate where everyone is taking sides, maybe you simply feel like you are supposed to be feeling something that you aren’t. Maybe you have been disappointed by the harsh rhetoric used in politics today. If you can relate to any of this, you are invited to join with us in a ceremony for common ground. We hope to engage in a process where, in the middle of a divided culture, we can let go of anger and fear, and adopt a perspective of kindness, compassion and empathy for individuals with diverse viewpoints.
