ArtLuck Springs

Welcome to ArtLuck - a time for sharing art, food and friendship.

The concept is simple - bring a piece of art to share. Yours or someone else's. Visual or written or sung or danced or .. whatever. Bring a snack (not a meal). Open yourself to the possibilities of creative community.

Every ArtLuck has a different flavour, formed organically from those in the room and the gifts they've brought to the table. Here's what happened last time.

If you want to join us, simply show up. Better yet, RSVP over on Facebook.

Gathering for Unity in a Climate of Political Division

You feel disillusioned by a new culture of relativity in social media. You’ve been hurt by sexist remarks reported in the media. Racial prejudice and violence has discouraged and angered you. You feel your heritage of birth has caused you to look differently at yourself in relation to others. Perhaps you feel divided within your community; or you feel divided within yourself. In a volatile political climate where everyone is taking sides, maybe you simply feel like you are supposed to be feeling something that you aren’t. Maybe you have been disappointed by the harsh rhetoric used in politics today. If you can relate to any of this, you are invited to join with us in a ceremony for common ground. We hope to engage in a process where, in the middle of a divided culture, we can let go of anger and fear, and adopt a perspective of kindness, compassion and empathy for individuals with diverse viewpoints.

When: February 25th, 2017 from 7 until 9 pm

Where: Bleeding Heart Art Space: 9132 118th Ave

All ages, political, cultural and spiritual backgrounds welcome.

Bleeding Heart Sacred Space - A Liturgical Service

This month we find ourselves in Epiphany, just after the birth of Jesus, as we are beginning to discover just who this man is, and if he may in fact be more than a man. The more we learn, the more we are compelled to respond. To act.

This month's liturgy includes members of Avenue Church, as we gather together to offer Avenue's space to the Deep Freeze Festival. We will be reading a wonderufl poem called *Where The Map Begins* by Jan Richardson

Maracatù Mudanza Drum Troupe

This drum troupe meets on Tuesdays from 7pm-9pm, at Bleeding Heart Art Space, and is open to all.  We hope you can join us!

This troupe is led by Rebel Music Academy, and is brought to the community at no charge. Here's how they describe it.

"Maracatú is a traditional Afro-Brazilian drumming style, typical of the North-Eastern state of Pernambuco.  It is heavily tied in with the culture and spirituality of the African people that were brought to this region of Brazil.  It is characterized by individuals in the group playing various instruments, singing, and producing a thunderous sound."
